Bonnet Bay is a suburb in southern Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, located 29 kilometers (18 miles) south of the Sydney central business district and within the Sutherland Shire local government area. It's on the Woronora River's eastern bank, which runs north into the Georges River.
Kirby was the original name for Bonnet Bay. However, in 1969, the Geographical Names Board decided to rename the location Bonnet Bay, after a cave in the vicinity was called "The Bonnet" because it was shaped like a bonnet. The name was also used for the bay on the Woronora River.
Fillmore Rd construction began in late 1969, and all housing plots were completed in 1985.
